Isle of Man Veteran Athletics Club is making a plea to athletics fans to help with organising and supporting events.
IOM Veteran AC organise some of the biggest events on the athletics calendar such as the Syd Quirk Half Marathon, End to End Walks and IOM Marathon.
The club said last time it asked for support, it received no response.
It said: “Without more committee and subcommittee members, these much-loved events are at real risk. No committee, no events, no club. It’s that simple.”
Support Needed
IOM Veteran AC added: “To put it into perspective — the Ramsey Marathon is currently run by just 3 people (soon to be 2), and the Syd Quirk Half Marathon by only 1.5 people.
“These are major events attracting around 500 competitors each, yet such small teams are carrying a huge workload. The more people who step up, the quicker and easier the tasks become — no one is left carrying the burden alone.”
The club is asking for “just an hour or so per month to attend meetings and help with event organisation”.
