Peel Commissioners says it’s ‘really positive’ that its plans for a new community facility on Marine Parade have been approved.
The local authority hopes to start the build – which will feature a cafe, two function rooms and new public toilets – this winter.
Peel Commissioners has previously said the area was ‘underused’ and the sports area could be located elsewhere.

Chair Ray Harmer says the development should ‘re-energise’ the town and the far end of the promenade.
