New Flue Sections For Peel Power Station

Manx Utilities is preparing to install newly manufactured flue sections at Peel Power Station as part of ongoing repairs following storm damage last year.

Four replacement upper flue sections have been delivered and are now stored on site in Peel, ready for installation.

A 220-tonne high-reach crane, arriving from Douglas Port, is scheduled to be on site from Monday (February 16).

Specialist contractors will use the crane to access the top of the stack, with installation expected to take around seven days.

The work is weather-dependent, as high-level lifting can only be carried out in light wind conditions, meaning schedules may change at short notice.

The project is aimed at securing the long-term operation of the power station and maintaining reliable electricity generation.
