Roof Conservation Works Completed at the Grove Museum

Manx National Heritage has completed essential conservation works at the Grove Museum, including major roof improvements.

The project strengthens the long‑term preservation of one of the island’s most cherished historic sites.

The project included installing a new roof light and repairing the museum’s flat roof, improving weatherproofing and safeguarding the Victorian interiors and collections.

Conservation Work

Internal conservation work was also carried out by Grenaby Limeworks to ensure repairs were in keeping with the building’s historic character ahead of redecoration.

The works were delivered by local contractors, including Gavin Edwards of GEAK Ltd, reflecting MNH’s commitment to supporting Island trades and using local expertise.

John‑Paul Walker, Historic Buildings Architect for MNH, said the improvements were vital to protecting the site for future generations, adding that collaboration with skilled local specialists ensured “the highest standards of care and conservation”.

The Grove Museum, which offers visitors an insight into Victorian life on the Isle of Man, will reopen for the 2026 season from today to Sunday, November 1, operating Saturday to Wednesday, 12pm to 4pm.
