Sarah Air has achieved one of distance running’s most prestigious milestones, completing the Six Star Marathon series after finishing the Boston Marathon on Monday.
Sarah’s journey to the Six Star medal began at the London Marathon on April 26, 2023, where she endured relentless rain from start to finish.
Undeterred, she continued her campaign later that year at the New York City Marathon in November, describing it as a “great day” highlighted by exceptional crowd support.

Momentum carried into 2024 with the Tokyo Marathon, another standout experience for Sarah thanks to the enthusiasm of spectators.
However, her journey was soon tested by injury. After tearing her meniscus following the Manchester Marathon in April, she battled through both the Chicago Marathon and, just two weeks later, the Berlin Marathon.
Sarah’s determination continued into 2025, with a memorable run at the Sydney Marathon last August.
Crossing the finish line by the Sydney Opera House was a particularly special moment, rounding off her global tour ahead of the final challenge.
Final Challenge
That finale came in Boston on Monday (April 20), where Sarah completed the original six World Marathon Majors despite ongoing shin splints dating back to January.
She described the course as “tough all the way with the hills,” but praised the atmosphere, saying that “the crowd was amazing all day.”
Reflecting on the achievement, Sarah emphasised that the journey was about more than just races. “It has been a memorable journey meeting new people and making lifelong friends along the way,” she said. “The running community is a special thing to be a part of.”
By completing all six of the World Marathon Majors, Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York, Sarah joins an exclusive group of runners from the Isle of Man to earn the Six Star Medal.
