A father of four who runs an escape room business is standing for Garff Commissioners, bringing engineering know-how and local government experience from a previous term in Patrick.
James Curtis grew up in the south of the Isle of Man, spent several years in the UK, then enjoyed 20 years living in Glen Maye before moving to Laxey village five years ago.
Whilst engineering is his passion, Mr Curtis has worked in IT for many years and now runs Exit Strategy with his wife Alison.
“We enjoy people, love talking with folk, whether that is hosting fun and games at Exit Strategy, or simply spending time amongst our local community on Laxey promenade,” he said.
Mr Curtis said his family values and frequents local businesses and treasures local amenities from walks in Lonan to time on Laxey beach.
“Garff is a special place and it deserves careful thought, thoughtful stewardship, ensuring it remains a blessing to all who live here, and also for the generations to come,” he added.
He said he believes in transparency and being accessible. “If you see me around, please feel free to stop me for a chat.”
Polling takes place on 21 May from 8am to 8pm.
James Hewison and Richard Taylor are also standing in the by-election.
