Early Guidance Recommended For Tynwald Petitioners

People planning to submit Petitions for Redress at this year’s Tynwald Day ceremony are being reminded to ensure their petitions meet the requirements set out in Standing Orders.

Guidance for potential petitioners is available on the Tynwald website and from the Legislative Buildings, and officials are encouraging anyone considering a petition to seek confidential, free advice from the Clerk of Tynwald.

Those wishing to use the service are asked to do so as early as possible and no later than Friday, June 26.

On Tynwald Day, petitioners should gather at the Lych Gate of the Royal Chapel in St John’s at 10:15am, before being escorted to reserved seating in the Grandstand and then to the foot of Tynwald Hill to present their petition during the ceremony. Proceedings are expected to conclude at around 1pm.
