Hewison Goes For Garff

Laxey businesswoman Vicki Hewison has confirmed she will stand for election in Garff in September’s House of Keys vote.

She cites a need for “more effective, responsive and accountable” government.

Hewison, who ran the Laxey Lifeline volunteer network during the Covid pandemic and recently led opposition to the proposed closure of the Cummal Mooar Older Persons Complex, said she believes her record shows she is willing to “stand up, challenge and be counted”.

She said Garff faces significant decisions in the months ahead, including the Mooir Vannin windfarm proposal and plans for a new Laxey sewerage treatment works.

“Voters need to regain trust and believe that their elected representatives will be vocal and active to ensure the best possible outcome for our community,” she said.

If elected, Hewison said she would work with other members on policies relating to the economy, healthcare, housing and education, while championing support for older people, small businesses and the wider Garff community.
