Sure has begun a key phase of its island wide mobile network upgrade, with the core migration starting today and running in stages through to August 14.
The work forms a central part of the company’s network transformation programme, which will deliver stronger coverage, improved performance, greater capacity and the phased introduction of 5G later this year.
Essential engineering works will take place between today and Monday (July 13), with the core migration itself beginning at 10pm on Sunday and continuing overnight to limit disruption.
Most customers are expected to notice little or no impact, though some may experience brief interruptions to calls during the migration window. Emergency calls will not be affected.
Creating a Stronger Network
Customers can follow updates at sure.com/5g, via Sure’s social channels, or by contacting customer care on 151 from a Sure mobile or 07624 247 247 from a landline.
Group CEO Alistair Beak said the upgrade was designed to meet modern connectivity demands.
“This programme is all about delivering that experience, creating a stronger, more resilient network that keeps pace with the way people live today and into the future.”
He said the core migration marked a major milestone, laying the foundations for next‑generation connectivity on the Isle of Man, and thanked customers for their patience during the works.
Further stages of the transformation will continue over the coming months, with customers set to benefit from enhanced coverage, improved performance and the rollout of 5G.
