UCM Training Restaurant Opens For Bookings

UCM’s Oastan Training Restaurant is now open for bookings, offering members of the public high‑calibre dining while giving students essential real‑world experience.

The restaurant will operate on selected dates from October 1 to May, with students gaining hands‑on training in both kitchen and front‑of‑house roles.

Menus are built around locally sourced produce, designed to challenge students and showcase the quality of Manx ingredients.

Kitchen students work under Chef Lecturer Robert Hunter, whose career includes world‑class restaurants such as London’s Goring Hotel, alongside pastry chef Irene Berry, formerly of Jason Atherton’s Michelin‑starred Pollen Street Social.

Front‑of‑house students will train under Tracey Conway, who brings experience from a Michelin‑starred environment and guides learners through customer service and restaurant operations.

The restaurant has become a popular choice for diners wanting excellent food while supporting local education, with each service giving students the chance to apply classroom learning in a live commercial setting.

Public demand is expected to be high, and early booking is encouraged.
