Manx Viking Wheelers, the island’s premier senior cycling club, has requested that those interested in representing the island at the upcoming 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands get in touch.
Anyone who wishes to be considered for the Games, which kick off in just under a year, is asked to contact recently appointed Race Secretary Rob Sorby, at robertsorby@online.sch.im
Cycling has proved a consistently lucrative endeavour for the island at recent games, bringing in a haul of 14 medals across both the Guernsey 2023 and Orkney 2025 events. The 2027 Games are set to take place from July 3-9.
Manx cycling hit the headlines again this summer, as Matthew Bostock took gold in the 40km Points race at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, before going on to score world championship success in Shanghai where the Glen Vine man bagged a bronze in the team pursuit and gold in the scratch race.
This news follows the first team announcement for the ’27 games, with the Isle of Man Lawn Tennis Association revealed their travelling squad earlier this week. You can read more on that here.
