Peel Commissioners are hoping a new project to level out the football pitch on the Headlands will reduce anti-social behaviour in the town.
The project is to ensure the space is better used and to give teenagers and young people a place to go.
The local authority says the area isn’t widely used by youngsters in the town, but it has identified a gap in activities available to them.
The scheme involves moving soil from an area higher up to fill in the areas of the football pitch which sit lower down.
It will also help fill in any “undulations and lumps and bumps” which cover the playing field.
Commissioner Stuart Hardingham says the board chose to start the project in winter to cause the least disruption and hopes it will be finished by springtime.
