With the next general election a year away (yes really it is that long) advice has been published for candidates preparing to stand.
As it is one year away, today also marks the beginning of the period when all candidates must record their expenses, donations and relevant interests under the Elections (Keys and Local Authorities) Act 2020.

Prospective candidates should contact the Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) of the area in which they intend to stand – details for confirmed DROs are online at gov.im/elections.
To be eligible to stand for election, candidates must be 18 years or over, a British citizen or have the right to remain in the Island, and meet residency criteria. Candidates must also be a registered elector in the Isle of Man and not legally disqualified.
