Airport Works ‘More Challenging’ Than Expected

Additional overnight works will be needed at Ronaldsway Airport as ground conditions were more challenging than expected.

The contractor of the works found last week’s rock breaking was “significantly more challenging than anticipated”.

The Airport team is currently working closely with the contractor to review technical data and confirm resource availability.

It is not yet known when the works will take place, but the Airport said it will share a further update ahead of any scheduled works.

The overnight works are for essential drainage improvement work at the airport.

The project involves heavy machinery, including excavators and rock breakers, to prepare for new drainage installation.

Due to the airport’s open landscape, noise may affect nearby areas such as Derbyhaven, Ballasalla, and Castletown, with potential wider disruption depending on weather conditions.
