His Majesty King Charles III arrives on the Isle of Man today for his first visit as Lord of Mann, with a programme that will see him address Tynwald, meet well‑wishers in Douglas and mark the 150th anniversary of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway.
The visit begins at 12:30pm, when The King will deliver an address to a special sitting of Tynwald in Douglas, continuing a tradition first established by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955.
His Majesty will then greet members of the public outside the Legislative Buildings on Bucks Road.
A garden party at Government House will follow, where The King will meet representatives from charities, community groups and organisations from across the Island.
Later, at around 1:50pm, His Majesty will visit the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway to unveil a commemorative plaque at Strathallan Crescent and take a short ride on the restored double‑decker No. 18, the world’s oldest in‑service tramcar.
Road Closures
The Isle of Man Constabulary is reminding residents, businesses and visitors to plan ahead, with temporary road closures and parking suspensions in place across Douglas to support security and event operations.
Restrictions began on Bucks Road and Finch Road on Sunday, with further closures today on Douglas Promenade, Summerhill Link Road, Hill Street, Myrtle Street and surrounding areas.
Vehicles left in suspended areas may be removed, though pedestrian access will remain available.
