Laxey Wheel Visitor Hub Opens

Manx National Heritage has opened a new Visitor Welcome Hub at the Laxey Wheel, with the first visitors welcomed on Friday.

The hub replaces the old 1980s kiosk and now serves as the main entrance to the site, offering an indoor welcome space, a new retail area with locally sourced products, and an audio‑visual display showcasing the three‑year conservation project on the Great Laxey Wheel.

Early visitor feedback has been “overwhelmingly positive”, with many praising the improved facilities and contemporary design. MNH says the new hub will enhance visits to both the Laxey Wheel and the Mines Trail for years to come.

The building also includes upgraded staff facilities and a sedum roof, reflecting MNH’s sustainability commitments. Tickets for all MNH sites can now be purchased from the hub.

Chief Executive Connie Lovel said the new space “creates an engaging and comfortable environment” for visitors, while Head of Operations Pauline Wall described the public response as “incredibly encouraging”.
