A man who bit another man’s ear off has lost an appeal and had his licence period increased.
Gavin William Patterson was jailed for eight years and six months in November 2025 for assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He bit the victim’s ear off during an attack in Glen Falcon Gardens, Douglas, after becoming angry at seeing the man talking to his partner .
The Staff of Government Division refused permission for the appeal and said that, had permission been granted, it would have refused the appeal.
The court increased Patterson’s extended licence period from three years to five years.
