Bevan to Haul 70kg Log Across Island For Charity

Owen Bevan will drag a 70kg log from Ramsey to Castletown next month in a solo overnight challenge aimed at raising £10,000 for Junglekeepers.

On September 12, Bevan will be taking on the challenge in aid of the conservation group that protects rainforests in Peru.

The 42km route is expected to take 20 to 24 hours, beginning in Ramsey and passing through Laxey around midday before reaching Douglas in the afternoon.

Bevan plans to carry the log on his shoulders through Strand Street and North Quay for roughly 750 metres before continuing south along the A5 through the night to Castletown.

Junglekeepers’ work has a direct Isle of Man link. The Amazon rainforest generates vast “flying rivers”, moisture released into the atmosphere that feeds Atlantic weather systems, including those that reach the Island.

Bevan said the challenge is designed to highlight the scale of effort required to protect rainforest ecosystems and the global impact of their loss.
