BMA Denies Rejecting Manx Care Offer

The British Medical Association has denied it has rejected or even received a formal offer from Manx Care for this financial year.

The union contacted Manx.News after Manx Care said it had made an offer that was turned down.

Manx Care said it had offered doctors “4% for the 2024/25 financial year” and this offer was “rejected by the BMA”

It also said the 6% offer for the 2022/23 financial year which was accepted by the BM, included a £1,000 sum that made it 8%, although this has since been corrected by Mnax Care.

No Offer

However, the BMA has now said it has never had a formal offer to turn down.

A BMA spokesperson said: “We were disappointed to see multiple inaccuracies in the information provided by Manx Care.

“We have never received a formal offer for the 2024/25 pay year, and as such have not rejected an offer.

“We also disagree that 6% +£1,000 is equivalent to 8% for the average Isle of Man doctor.”

The union is currently planning to ballot doctors for what would be a first on the island.
