Yesterday (January 22) proved a busy day for the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue services as they were called to a structure fire and a horse that had become stuck in a stream.
Just before 2pm, the Emergency Services Joint Control Room (ESJCR) dispatched a major appliance from Douglas Station along with the Line Rescue team and Duty Officer to a horse trapped in a stream.
The Fire Service said that “specially trained animal rescue technicians within the Line Rescue team worked alongside a Vet who had been called to the scene to assist”.
Utilising its lifting equipment in conjunction with onsite machinery Maggie the Horse was successfully pulled from the river and returned to her stables for a well deserved feed.
Busy day for services
Earlier in the afternoon, colleagues at the Emergency Services Joint Control Room mobilised three major appliances and an aerial appliance from Douglas Station along with the Duty Officer to reports of a structure fire.
The OIC of the first appliance quickly established that the smoke detectors had operated due to burnt food allowing all supporting appliances to be stood down.
Crews from the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue service were in attendance for approximately 1 hour.
