As soon-to-be retired financial firm managing director says his decades of private sector experience can bring a new perspective to public service.
Richard Taylor has lived in Laxey for 25 years and is contesting the Garff by-election in the Lonan Ward.
A Chartered Management Accountant, for the last 20 years he has worked in senior governance, risk and compliance roles in the finance sector.
“Soon to be retiring from full time employment, I will commit the time to this role bringing a significant amount of private sector experience to a public sector requirement,” he said.
Mr Taylor described Laxey school as “a central point of our community where friendships are made both at pupils and parent level and creates a safe space for all.”
He added: “We need to ensure that we build and maintain safe spaces for our children where they have the opportunity to develop socially and physically in our beautiful neighbourhoods.”
Mr Taylor is also vocal on the proposed Moorin Vannin wind farm and local parking pressures.
James Curtis and James Hewison are also standing in the by-election on May 21, with polling stations at Baldrine Methodist Hall and Laxey Working Men’s Institute.
