Applications are open for a young person aged 11 to 18 to represent the Isle of Man at the UK Youth Parliament in the House of Commons.
The successful applicant will deliver a speech from the Despatch Box on November 6.
The topic for the two-minute address will be determined by the ‘Make Your Mark’ ballot. Island students will have the opportunity to vote on the issues that matter most to them.
Following the success of involving the Crown Dependencies in a previous sitting, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, has again extended the invitation.
Invitation
Speaker Juan Watterson said, “I am delighted that the Speaker of the House of Commons has once again extended an invitation to the Isle of Man, describing it as a unique and exciting opportunity for a young islander to represent the voices of their peers in Westminster.”
He added, “The initiative not only allows young people to share their perspectives alongside representatives from across the United Kingdom and the Overseas Territories, but also helps them build confidence, develop leadership skills, and inspire others back home to get involved and make their voices heard.”
The Office of the Clerk of Tynwald will fund all travel and accommodation. Applications must be submitted via MS Forms by Friday, September 26.
