Marks & Spencer has submitted plans to refresh the external appearance of its Douglas store.

The proposal includes amendments to elevations and shop fronts, aiming to modernise entrances at Drumgold Street, Duke Street, and Market Street.

The changes involve relocating the Drumgold Street entrance, replacing glazing with automated doors, and adding a glass balustrade to guide customer flow.

On Duke Street, M&S letters will be placed above the entrance canopy, while the shop front will be redecorated from green to black.

The Market Street entrance will also see black doors and heritage green tiles applied to the central pillar.

In a cover letter, the application states: “These are relatively minor changes and will not alter the flow of customers into the store or around the centre.”

The application emphasises the store’s role as a “key anchor” in Douglas town centre, noting the changes will “enhance the entrance” and contribute to regeneration efforts.

A separate application for signage changes is also underway.
