In a New Year’s message the Chief Minister has acknowledged that this year “will bring new challenges to overcome, particularly for the private sector”.
Looking ahead to 2026, Alfred Cannan MHK says he hopes “we can all do as much as we can to continue to support “Manx” during the year and in doing so support our economy and community”.
The Chief Minister shared a message on social media which said thanked public services staff for working over the festive season, and those working in hospitality, retail and transport sectors.
His full message reads: “Wishing everyone across the Isle of Man a happy and healthy 2026. Thanks to all the staff in the public services who have worked over the festive season and not forgetting those also working in the hospitality, retail and transport sectors.
“I know that 2026 will bring new challenges to overcome, particularly for the private sector. I hope we can all do as much as we can to continue to support “Manx” during the year and in doing so support our economy and community. Good luck to everyone in achieving their “goals” in 2026 whatever they may be. Blein Vie Noa.“
