The Chief Minister Alfred Cannan MHK met with Minister of State for Security Dan Jarvis MBE MP in London this week.
Mr Cannan “highlighted the Isle of Man’s excellent track record cooperating with UK law enforcement in joint missions to combat transnational financial and organised crime”.
As well as the island’s position as an international finance centre with the “highest regulatory standards”.
As Minister of State for Security, Mr Jarvis’ responsibilities include illicit finance, international and organised crime, and counter terrorism and extremism.
Fight Against Illicit Finance
The Chief Minister said: “The Isle of Man stands together with the UK in the fight against illicit finance, and I am most encouraged by the Minister’s commitment to strengthening our cooperation going forward.
“It is of the utmost importance that we maintain ongoing dialogue to ensure our priorities remain aligned and to reach mutually acceptable outcomes in matters that affect us.”
The Chief Minister and Minister Jarvis also reiterated the importance of national collaboration and cooperation between UK and IOM police forces to help ensure the safety of communities on the Island and in the UK.
