Chief Minister Alf Cannan says it is important the Isle of Man benefits, wherever possible, from the new UK-EU deal.
He made the remarks as he attended a high-profile event at 10 Downing Street on Monday evening.
The gathering marked the conclusion of the UK-EU Summit and was attended by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and senior EU officials, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Business leaders and political representatives from the Devolved Administrations and Crown Dependencies were also present.
Excellent Opportunity
Mr. Cannan said: “I was very pleased to be invited to attend this event, which provided an excellent opportunity to speak to many of the senior figures involved in the discussions around the UK-EU Reset.
“Isle of Man Government officials have been in discussions with UK officials about the negotiations for some months.
“It is helpful for me to talk to UK and EU Ministers in person to explain that although the Isle of Man is not a signatory to the agreement itself, we can be impacted by the decisions that they make. We want to make sure that we can benefit, wherever possible.”
He added: “I am grateful to the Prime Minister for extending the invitation to me and my colleagues from the Crown Dependencies, and to Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds MP for his continued engagement on the discussions.
“This demonstrates that we are continuing to engage positively with the UK Government on the issues that matter to us.”
