Clerk Reinstated

Ramsey Town Commissioners have reinstated Town Clerk and Chief Executive Derek Flint with immediate effect, following a three-month investigation into allegations made against him by a standing Commissioner.

The probe concluded with Mr Flint being exonerated of any wrongdoing.

However, investigators identified some policy, procedural and organisational learning issues, which the authority says will be addressed as early as possible.

Deputy Chair, Sandra Cottam-Shea said: “This has been a difficult period for the organization but especially for Derek, who has served the Board and the Town selflessly since his appointment in January 2025.

“I and the Board are pleased to welcome him back to the helm and I know he will redouble his efforts to deliver the strategic plan as set by the elected members.”

Mr Flint, who returned to his post this week, acknowledged the challenges ahead.

“There is work to be done and a lot of catching up to, but I know that with our excellent workforce, this will be a sharp and focused exercise.

“I am glad to be back leading a great team, who have continued to do their best through a period of considerable uncertainty,” he said.

The Commissioner who made the original allegations has not been named by the authority.
