Coastguard Aids Ferry Airlift

Douglas Coastguard were called out on Tuesday afternoon to receive an inbound helicopter with a patient who had been airlifted off a Liverpool-Belfast ferry off the west of the island.

The team immediately secured the landing site at Noble’s Hospital to ensure a safe arrival.

A rescue helicopter arrived at the hospital helicopter pad shortly after 5:10pm when a patient was transferred by stretcher a waiting ambulance.

After handing over the patient to the medical team in the Emergency Department at Nobles, the winch paramedic was returned to the helicopter. The aircraft departed back to its base at Caernarfon just before 6pm.

A spokesperson for the team extended their gratitude, stating, “Thanks to our colleagues in the Marine Operations Centre who co-ordinated the transfer with the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre in the UK.”
