A Peel town commissioner has called for an externally led investigation following a row over “poor performance” and the use of ratepayers’ money on legal representation.
Katryna Baptist said she had been “blown away” by the level of public support after raising concerns about the town commissioners. In a follow-up statement, she said further issues had since been raised with her.
“It’s clear that some people feel disappointed by the service, or perhaps I should say, lack of service, that they’ve been getting from Peel town commissioners,” she said.
“In the statements released by Peel town commissioners, there were many untruths and misrepresentations in there. I think that’s been designed to distract from the original issues I raised.”
Mrs Baptist expressed disappointment that ratepayers’ money was “spent on legal representation to defend poor performance”.
She added: “I would gladly welcome an externally led investigation into all of this, where evidence can be shared and both sides can be fairly heard.”
Mrs Baptist confirmed she would return to the boardroom for its April meeting saying: “I will be there representing you, trying to get things done, trying to improve things, trying to deliver on what I said I would do.”
