Ramsey Commissioner Juan McGuinness is urging residents to view the DoI’s new flood defence proposals for the town, now on display at the Town Hall.
The plans for West Quay and Derby Road come after a previous 2021–22 scheme was withdrawn following significant public opposition.
Mr McGuinness said: “If you want to see exactly what’s being suggested for West Quay and Derby Road, it’s worth taking ten minutes to look.”
The earlier scheme was pulled after residents and businesses objected to the loss of over 50 parking spaces and the visual impact of a substantial wall along the quay.
Change
Of the new design, Mr McGuinness said: “What’s being presented this time includes a wall of roughly four feet in height along the quay. It would make a very visible change to the harbour, and it would alter how the space feels and functions.
“And with the proposed large reduction in town centre parking again, it will have a direct impact on Ramsey’s shops, cafés and day to day activity.”
The display is available for public viewing throughout the week.
