Ramsey Town Commissioners says it is to deep clean an area of the that town that “has been a blight for far too long”.
It said that Grove Mount’s problems have been compounded by cars and campers being parked up for months, creating a barrier which impedes street cleaning.
On April 22 the authority will be commencing a deep clean, to remedy the situation by deep cleaning both the road and pavement.
There will be a Traffic Regulation Order in place which will prohibit parking and it will be asking owners of the vehicles there to have them moved well before the work commences.
Town Clerk Derek Flint said: ““Whilst owners of these vehicles are perfectly within their rights to park them on the highway when they are taxed and insured, we’d ask them to reflect on the impact these extended stays have on both our ability to service the highway, and that on nearby residents.
“In addition, parking for the doctors, dentists and hospital is at a premium during the working day and having these spaces available for patients and visitors would be really beneficial.
“If at all possible, I’d ask people to make alternative arrangements following our cleaning operation. This isn’t the only area of town like this, and others will be receiving attention in the coming months.”
