Following a petition from a group of local children, Arbory and Rushen Commissioners will be reinstating a swing in a housing estate’s play area.
The letter says it will do ‘everything’ to get the equipment in place as soon as possible and the contractor has been asked to get this sorted.
The local authority has confirmed the swings were removed from Cronk Cullyn due after an inspection revealed ‘safety concerns’ in Autumn last year.
Children’s Petition
It adds that sourcing the parts to repair the swing has caused ‘some delays’ in getting it back into the park.
A number of children signed a petition which asked if the swing could be back in place for the summer holidays.
It also says that although they understand the swing was removed due to ‘safety hazards’, the youngsters of the estate ‘very much hope’ its being replaced.
The children added that they ‘appreciate’ the money the local authority has spent on the estate – but hope it could make the change.
In response, the commissioners said they are ‘sad’ that it’s taken so long to get the swing back in the park.
The local authority added that sometimes these things taken time to be fixed and are ‘very sorry’ that the swing hasn’t been reinstated and it hopes it will be back ‘very soon’.
