Update – The issue with the system has now been resolved.
Issues with government computer systems may result in delays to the island’s planning process.
The document viewing system is currently unavailable, with concerns being raised about what this will do to notice periods.
Manx.News was contacted by a reader who had been sent an email from the Head of Development Management which confirmed the issue.
It said: “As you may be aware online services is currently unavailable for viewing the documents associated with a planning application. Colleagues in Government Technology Services are working hard to resolve this, however we have had to consider what this means for our customers.
“Once the viewer is working again we will need to identify what steps are appropriate to ensure the 21 day publicity requirement has been met for
those applications that are still within it. In the meantime, we will need to stop issuing site notices, and we may be unable to publish a weekly list this week, although we hope that this will not be the case.
“We will constantly monitor the situation to see what other implications there may be for our service including next week’s Planning Committee.”
Our reader said this will likely lead to delays in conveyancing checks and said there was “lots of concern” about the issues this may cause.
