Conference Hears How to Prepare for Evaluation

Business leaders, regulators, and government representatives from across the Isle of Man gathered to discuss how the island is preparing for its upcoming MONEYVAL evaluation, set for October 2026.

The event, ‘Preparing for MONEYVAL,’ brought together key stakeholders to explore the challenges and opportunities the evaluation presents.

Attendees heard from the Financial Services Authority, Gambling Supervision Commission and industry experts—with a special guest from Jersey sharing insights following their recent successful assessment.

Compliance

MONEYVAL, the Council of Europe’s permanent monitoring body, evaluates jurisdictions’ compliance with international anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards.

The event aimed to provide practical guidance for regulated firms navigating the complex process.

A panel discussion, moderated by Sinead O’Connor of DQ Advocates, featured David Baker (FSA), Shannon Reid (GSC), and Scott Le Flour (Triskele Solutions, Jersey).

They shared insights on what to expect from the evaluation, lessons from Jersey’s experience, the role of regulators, and how businesses can prepare effectively.

“Go into the coming months with cautious optimism,” Shannon Reid advised. “Be critical and analytical of the part you play in the overall success of the island.”
