Cops Launch Recruitment Drive

The Isle of Man Constabulary is recruiting for new police constables and special constables.

As recently announced, the starting salary for a new constable is £32,163 rising to £46,044.

As part of the recruitment stage, the Constabulary is holding drop in sessions to meet the training team and find out more about the role.

A police spokesman said: “If you are looking for a career like no other, where no two days are the same and you get to make a difference to people’s lives in the community this is the career for you.

“If successful you will start your career with a 15 week training period where you will learn all the knowledge and skills you require before commencing your role as a Police Constable.

“During your first two years you will not only work as a Constable, but also continue your training and developing your Policing skills.”

Promotion

After their first two years, officers will be eligible to apply for a variety of specialism posts around the force ranging from detective roles, protecting vulnerable people, roads policing, dog handler, armed policing, public order, search team or promotion.

The drop in sessions will be on

  • July 23 – 12-2pm: Costa, Ramsey
  • July 25 – 12-2pm: Coffee Craft Castletown Square
  • August 7 – 12-2pm: Costa, Sea Terminal, Douglas
  • August 22 – 12-2pm: Coffee Station, House of Manannan, Peel

There will also be an information evening at 6:30pm on Wednesday August 7 at the Mike Hailwood Center at the TT Grandstand, Douglas.

Applications close on September 6 and applicants must be available on September 24 for fitness and IT assessments and be available between October 15 and 19.
