Ravens Continue Fine Pre-Season Form

FC Isle of Man made it two from two in pre-season as they came from behind to win 3-2 over Ashton Town on Saturday.

The Ravens made the trip north for the game that was played at Ramsey’s Ballacloan Stadium.

Laxey’s Ethan Hawley was unfortunate not to give Paul Jones’ side the lead after a mazy run that saw him take the ball from right back and beat several men, sadly the end product didn’t provide the result it deserved.

Adam Adebiyi would give the Ravens the lead halfway through the first half after being teed up by Ryan Gartland, sending curling effort past the visitor’s keeper.

As the first half ticked down, Ashton equalised through George Lomax, whose deft touch on a cross left Ben Wilkinson with no chance.

With Jones ringing the changes at half-time, the Ravens took a bit of time to settle and found themselves 1-2 down when Cal Hunter fired past Adam Killey.

That goal seemed to spark the Ravens back into life as they began to push forward, winning a succession of corners, while Ste Whitley’s curling, dipping effort, was well saved by keeper James Chew.

Ramsey’s own Charlie Higgins would eventually provide the equaliser as one of the Ravens’ corners paid off.

It would soon be 3-2 when Whitley was fouled and Sean Doyle stepped up to fire it home.

Speaking after the game, Paul Jones said he happy with the way his side turned the game around and thanked the over 200 fans, including about 50 from Ashton, for making the trip.
