There were just under 6,000 bottles of water sold in Manx high schools in the week following TT week.
Jason Moorhouse MHK has asked the same question for last two years, with the 2024 figures showing a decrease of almost 2,000 on 2023.
Education Minister Daphne Caine said that St Ninian’s High School sold the greatest number of bottles across its two sites, with 2,037 bottles sold (1,631 flavoured).
Ballakermeen sold 1,928 bottles (1,239 flavoured), while QE II sold 1,028 bottles (748 flavoured) and Castle Rushen sold 932 (636 flavoured).
Ramsey Grammar School only sells water in cartons and, unlike in previous years, did not provide any figures.
In total there were 5,925 bottles sold in the school week after TT, down from 8,585 in 2023, a figure which did include RGS.
If the Ramsey school is taken out of last year’s figures, it mean that sales of plastic bottles dropped from 7,745 to 5,925 year on year.
