Council Defends Decision to Pay for Prom Artwork

Douglas City Council’s decision to fund the installation of artwork along the promenade sea wall will help make the area more “vibrant”.

It will be providing £16,000 from its reserves to the Department of Infrastructure, which has “omitted” the costs from its budget.

The local authority says the sea wall is important for protecting the capital and supporting the project will help “protect” local artists.

Councillor Charlotte Traynor says the new artwork will make the area more “vibrant”.
