Manx middle‑distance runner David Mullarkey has taken a major step in his athletics career after signing his first professional contract in the United States.
The move ends several months of uncertainty following the completion of his university studies, during which he represented Florida State University before transferring to Northern Arizona University.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Mullarkey said he was “excited” to join UA Running and Mission Run Dark Sky, describing the deal as “a moment that’s been years in the making.”
He added: “I’m incredibly grateful for the belief and opportunity to compete at this level… Whilst I can’t tell you what is going to happen in my career, I can tell you that I will continue with the same drive and passion I have always shown you. Let the relentless pursuit continue.”
The signing marks the start of Mullarkey’s professional journey as he prepares to compete on the elite circuit.
