Peel RNLI volunteer Debs has qualified as Shore Crew after less than a year with the station, demonstrating her commitment to the lifesaving charity.
Debs, a teacher and mother of two, joined the Peel Lifeboat team in 2023 and has since worked hard to gain the skills needed for the demanding role. Shore Crew volunteers are vital in safely launching and recovering the station’s Shannon-class lifeboat.
The station said: “While most Shannons operate from sandy beaches, our station’s location on a busy commercial quay, with a steep slipway, places unique demands on our shore crew. Debs has risen to the challenge brilliantly.”
Inspired by her grandfather, who served in search and rescue and was a dedicated RNLI supporter and being married to another Peel Lifeboat volunteer, the RNLI is basically part of the family.
The station thanked Debs and all volunteers for their dedication, adding: “Training is only possible thanks to our supporters’ generosity. To help, visit RNLI.org/supportMayday.”
