Scott Gallacher will leave his role as the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture’s (DEFA) Chief Officer this summer.
Mr Gallacher took up the post in August 2023 but has decided to return to the Southern Hemisphere.
During his time jere, he has overseen the development of the new Agricultural Strategy and Food Security Plan, the updated Energy Strategy, the commencement of the periodic review for Biosphere Reserve status accreditation, as well as the regulatory and legislative improvements to planning that have recently progressed through Tynwald.
Minister Clare Barber said: “I wish to thank Scott for his leadership and commitment to public service. He has made a real impact and has supported DEFA in improving their relationships with the department’s key stakeholders.
“His experience and drive have helped us move forward in a number of key areas. We wish him all the very best as he and his wife return to be closer to their family.”
Mr Gallacher will continue to fulfil his role until the summer and, in addition, will provide interim support to the DHSC following the retirement of its Chief Officer Paul Richardson next month and pending the appointment of a new Interim Chief Officer.
The recruitment process to find a new Chief Officer for DEFA will open shortly.
