The planning committee has granted approval for Dandara Home’s Lake Road development.
The Department for Enterprise (DfE) says it welcomes the planning committee’s support for Dandara Homes’ redevelopment of Lake Road.
Tim Johnston MHK, Minister for Enterprise, said: ‘Dandara Homes’ plans for Lake Road represent a transformative development, converting an underutilised and derelict area into a vibrant residential site in the lower Douglas area.’
The proposal supported by planning, will see 109 apartments built, contributing to ambition of delivering 1,000 additional homes by 2026.
Redevelopment
The Minister said: ‘Through the Island Infrastructure Scheme, the Department is pleased to have supported, in principle, phase two of the Quay West development. This scheme was designed to stimulate and accelerate the development of unoccupied brownfield sites across the Island, while leveraging private sector capability and investment in alignment with a key aim of the Economic Strategy.
‘This announcement is a significant milestone in bringing this project to fruition and follows the recent unanimous planning approval for Tevir Group’s development of Villiers Square. Both projects embody the core ethos of the Island Plan, aiming to build great communities and create a more secure, vibrant, and sustainable future for the Isle of Man.’
Lake Road
The application site is located between Lake Road and the River Douglas, immediately to the west of the apartment building known as Quay West.
It is a previously developed site, part of which is currently used as a temporary car park.
