Diesel Comes to The Rescue

Pic Credit: Manx Utilities

Diesel engines are coming to the rescue whilst the subsea interconnector is temporarily disconnected.

In the next few days, Manx Utilities will be finishing up some “important work” on its’s electrical systems at the Lord Street substation.

This means it will temporarily disconnect the subsea interconnector from the UK electricity network.

During this period, it’s power system will run independently, using Diesel engines at Peel and Pulrose to support the main Gas Turbine Generators.

As a result, there may be visible smoke emissions from the stacks during this time.
