A presentation hosted by the Positive Action Group is to explore the way the island deals with criminals.
Andrew Neilson of the Howard League for Penal Reform will look at whether the current system works or whether it could change.
PAG’s Damien Ciapelli said: “Against a backdrop of prison population increase, tragic suicides in custody, high reoffending rates and the lack of housing for those leaving custody, the question posed by the talk is very topical for the island.
“The Howard League for Penal Reform is a leading prison reform charity headquartered in London. Its objectives are to seek reform to the criminal justice system with a view to seeking reduced crime, safer communities and fewer people in prison.
“Mr Neilson is the Director of Campaigns and leads on the charity’s policy, public affairs and communications. There will be an opportunity for the audience to put questions to Mr Neilson after his address.”
The meeting takes place at 7.30 pm, Monday November 18 at the Manx Legion, Market Hill, Douglas.
