Don’t Disturb Seal Pups

As are now well into seal pupping season with numerous little white fluffy pups taking shelter on our shores, Manx Wildlife Trust is reminding people to not disturb them.

A guide for photographers and observers has been created by the Seal Research Trust to help protect pups and adults from human disturbance.

It asks people to stay at least 100m away from them, and to use zoom on camera or binoculars to look at them!

Relaxed Seal Pups

A good photo of a seal, is a relaxed one! If the seal is looking at you – you’re too close.

The guide asks seal-fans to make sure they can’t see, smell or hear you; it’s easy really, stay out of sight, stay downwind and don’t be loud near them.

Please be sure to follow this important guide and give our local seals the space and respect they deserve to raise the next generation of Manx seals:
