Douglas RNLI assist yacht

On Friday (May 31) evening, Douglas lifeboat crew were paged to assist a yacht that had lost engine power.

The yacht has three persons on board, and all crew had been travelling since the early hours and were exhausted.

The Mersey Class, RNLB Ruby Clery, was launched under the command of Coxswain Emily Heaton.

Emil said: “Although on the surface it looked like a still evening, the swell caused significant motion on the boat, the crew worked swiftly and we were glad to get everyone back, especially the crew from the yacht who were visibly exhausted .”

The second launch in TT, and it was another first for Douglas RNLI, with crew member Emily Heaton on her first service launch as Coxswain.
