You’ll soon be able to take home more duty-free sparkling wine and cider from the UK.
The changes will simplify travellers’ duty-free alcohol allowances and come into force on October 1.
The allowance for sparkling wine under 22% is increasing from 9 to 18 litres, the same allowance for still wine.
Cider will also fall under the ‘beer’ category. The allowance will increase from 9 litres to 42.
The announcement states: “The revisions will give some travellers greater flexibility to bring back a wider mix of products within the beer and wine allowances”.
It continues, however: “travellers who currently make full use of allowances across multiple alcohol categories may see a reduction in the overall quantity of alcohol they are entitled to bring back duty-free.”
