Curraghs Wildlife Park has paid tribute to long‑serving staff member Tony, who has retired after an extraordinary 33 years with the team.
Colleagues past and present gathered to give him a proper send‑off after he attempted to “sneak out the door quietly”.
During his three decades at the park, Tony has seen major changes across the site, but staff say he will be especially missed by the tapirs, with whom he shared daily cuddles and scratches.
The park said Tony had “left his mark” on its story, recognising the contribution made by everyone who works or volunteers there.
He now plans to enjoy a new chapter with more travel, walks with his dog, and “hopefully a little less mucking out”.
