Environmental Issues Delay Ward Reopening

Plans to reopen Martin Ward at Ramsey District Cottage Hospital have been put on hold following a delay in clinical sign-off.

Manx Care said the decision was taken after recent environmental checks identified issues requiring further investigation.

As a result, the ward will remain closed for at least a week while additional cleaning and retesting is carried out.

Manx Care said: “Patient safety is our top priority. We are acting early and cautiously to ensure the ward is completely safe before use.”

Pause

The pause affects plans to bring services back to Martin Ward, which had been expected to reopen shortly.

Manx Care said the move was precautionary and aimed at ensuring the environment meets required clinical standards before patients are admitted.

Patients with existing clinic appointments scheduled to take place in Martin Ward are being advised to wait for confirmation.

Manx Care said: “If you have a clinic appointment scheduled in Martin Ward, we will contact you directly if any changes are needed. If you haven’t heard from us, please attend as advised.”

The organisation added that services will continue to operate from alternative locations wherever possible, and staff will be available on site to assist patients.

According to Manx Care, “staff will be on-site from Monday to guide patients to the right location”.
