A man has thanked the volunteer lifeboat crew who saved his life during a dramatic rescue earlier this year.
Ethan Perry visited the station with his family to meet the crew after an incident in April.
During a training exercise, the crew were called to go to the rescue of Ethan who had only earlier stopped by the station to ask for advice.
A Peel Lifeboat spokesperson said, “Ethan readied his newly acquired motorboat for an outing. Wishing to be prepared, he had stopped by the RNLI boathouse with questions for the crew including how to make a Mayday call.
“Advice he would need only a few hours later.”
Submerged
The crew located Ethan and his motorboat behind Peel Castle where they found the boat partly submerged and Ethan in the water.
Crew member Neil Moore pulled Ethan from the water and began life-saving CPR while other volunteers took turns delivering CPR while the lifeboat raced to meet waiting paramedics.
Peel Lifeboat’s chairman, Stuart Blackley, was the launch authority that day.
He said: “We are thankful we were able to help save Ethan’s life.
It has been one of our most significant rescues this century. We are so proud of our crew for their courageous and dedicated service.
“As it is often said, RNLI volunteers are ordinary people who do extraordinary things!”
